ABOUT ME
Welcome, my name is Jennifer and I am about to embark on an exploration to the past.
I was browsing my Grandmother's bookshelf when I discovered what was an essential book in English speaking countries for over half a century, Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management. I love old books and I love cooking so this was the perfect book for me.

Michael Pollan gives some great advice "Don’t eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food". Join me as I journey 100 years into the past and cook up food that our Great-Grandmothers would recognize.

I will also share some of the house keeping tips from the past, whether or not the advice is still relevant.
ABOUT MRS. BEETON
The First Edition of Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management was published in 1861. For nearly half a century Mrs. Beeton was an essential book in the English speaking world.

With almost 4000 recipes there were meals for every season and event.
The Book of Household Management is more than a cookbook. It contains within it advice ranging from the pay of your servants to common illnesses and basic legal advice.
